SUSTAINABLE PIONEERS: FEEL ICELAND
The demand for collagen supplements has boomed in recent years, but it hasn’t always come from the most sustainable or trustworthy of sources. That’s where Feel Iceland comes in: their supplements are made of pure hydrolysed Icelandic marine collagen that’s extracted from discarded fish skins, a by-product of the Icelandic fishing industry.
All the fish upcycled for the supplement is from sustainable fisheries certified by the Marine Stewardship Council, which means that fish are caught during specific periods and with regulated quotas. This means that users of the products are not only getting the very best anti-aging benefits, but also reducing their impact on the planet.
“The first thing that we did was formulate a social responsibility policy that we have followed every day since”
“From the moment the company was founded, the first thing that we did was formulate a social responsibility policy that we have followed every day since,” Feel Iceland co-founders Hrönn and Kristín explain.
Feel Iceland doesn’t stop there: all its packaging is environmentally friendly, too. The company uses recyclable and reusable aluminium cans for all its products. Wherever it cannot use aluminium, it opts for recyclable glass, so that the company can minimise its plastic use.
